[ sleepy ]

If this little guy was one of the 7 dwarfs he would definitely be named Sleepy!  I'll admit that I was a bit nervous that he wouldn't zonk out for me since he was exactly 14 days old at his session--but he proved me wrong.  Once I got him all warm and cozy with a full belly he pretty much slept for the entire session--not even waking up when he decided to give both mom and dad a "shower" and then some!  I just love his chubby cheeks and since he was 2 weeks old he had the cutest full baby belly.  Enjoy this little love!

[ note worthy ]

Just a few business items to take care of...If you missed the studio newsletter that went out earlier this month, please let me know and I can get a copy to you.  Here are some of the highlights--with very important dates!!

- The LAST date for a session this year is Saturday, September 26th.  If you are interested in a session this summer contact the studio TODAY as many sessions between July-September have been snatched up already!

- My maternity leave: No sessions will be photographed between September 27th through the tentative date of March 2010.  Please note though...exceptions WILL be made for the following session types: pregnancy, newborn and A Year of Art participants.  Those exceptions will be on a case by case basis, so contact the studio early!

- Despite my maternity leave for sessions, all prints and products will be available as well as a full range of *new* holiday cards this fall.  Please watch the blog and newsletter for very important ordering deadlines.

- A new line of birth announcements will be available on July 1st.  Check back to see a peek!

That is all for now!  In the next couple of weeks I will have quite a few newborns to share, as well as regular summer sessions so come back and visit!

And because I *have* to post a picture...here is another image from this cutie's session a couple of weeks ago.

[ design idea ]

I love walking into a client's home and seeing their art out for display.  Take a peek at this gorgeous canvas collection that this client has hanging in her dining room/great room.  These are three 20x24 canvases and they are stunning, especially displayed together as one unit.

I'd love to see how other clients have displayed their prints, canvases and products.  Snap a picture and email it to me.  Entries that make it to the blog will receive a complimentary print from your next session!

[ 45 minutes and counting... ]

I could have photographed these two all day...but they only gave me 45 minutes!  Let me back up a little--mom contacted me several months ago to set a session up for her two adorable children.  Almost all of my new clients come as referrals from current clients, but this family literally just "found" me while searching for artist photographers on the internet. It is an understatement to say that mom was SO excited for this session!  Well, as you know from all of the wet weather we have been having--it was bound to rain.  Since they were driving over an hour to meet me for a session, this had been scheduled for so long, and I'm leaving town soon, we decided to go for it.  Thank goodness these two were energetic, busy and up for some fun.  They were off and running from the moment we met-and I have to say that I probably captured more expressions than usual.  The best part?  I didn't have to do anything other than try to press the shutter on the camera as fast as I could.  They let me do what I love to do best...just capture them being kids!  Wouldn't you know that 45 minutes into the session it started to rain...but I was confident that I captured more than enough.  I would love to show tons more, but I am saving the best just for mom and dad--and I'm sure they will be debuted on the website soon!  Enjoy!

[ moments like these ]

In honor of everyone who celebrated Father's Day yesterday I wanted to share some priceless images from a "father-daughter" session I did with my husband and daughter about a month ago.  I rarely post this many images at once and try to avoid posting so many "personal" ones, but I'm just in love with these and want to share.

A father has such an important role and I am so lucky to be able to capture that with my camera--both for my own family and my clients.  Now I will admit that my daughter and husband create the most difficult session, but all of the hard work was worth it!  Most dads aren't interested in being involved in a session much (my husband is no exception!) but the moments that are captured are literally priceless.  Remember that next time I ask you want to be in a few of the pictures!  Time marches on and you can never go back...thank goodness I have these.

[ she's back! ]

If you visited the blog earlier this year you will definitely remember these blue eyes!  Miss A was the winner of the 2008 Picture of the Year Contest.  Her parents scheduled her one year session a few months ago and I was so excited to photograph her again.  She was quite the trooper as we plodded through the long grass, changed her outfit several times, and acted like crazy people to get all sorts of expressions.  I have some stellar images...but I'm saving those just for mom and dad for now!  Enjoy this peek!

[ long time coming ]

Here are some more sneak peeks of adorable little "C" from a recent session.  We have been planning on this session for a long time!  Mom received it as a gift for Christmas and we were waiting until the grass was green and weather was perfect...and that is exactly what we got!  The session took place at the home of C's aunt and it was a wonderful old house with great grounds.  I look forward to another session there next year!  I have to point out one thing I love about this first image--she has a drip of ice cream on almost each button!  Enjoy...

[ lemons ]

Just one quick share from a session today.  It is rare that I get a chance to post a peek so quickly but I wanted to share these beautiful blue eyes.  My whole goal during this session was to capture these blue eyes and I'm pretty sure I got many different wonderful images.  The funny thing about this busy toddler?  The only thing that kept her still for a moment was eating slices of lemon!  She loved them and practically ate the whole thing!  There will be more in a few days...enjoy!

[ lovely evening light ]

I love it when a family is flexible!  Due to late naps, this session ended up being in the evening rather than late afternoon...and it worked perfectly.  The sun was wonderful as it was slowly going down and gave a wonderful amount of shade with some great light for those bright eyes!  The last time I photographed this family, little man A was only a few days old.  All of my babies are growing up!  He just celebrated his first birthday and at the end of our session he had his first cupcake--which made for some great images.  Sister E is so adorable and does such a stunning "serious" look.  She was more than happy to wear my pettiskirt and show of her ballet for me.  It was a fabulous, laid back, fun session...I can't wait until next summer!
